Company president Chuck Hall was just installed as Chairperson for the Custom Builder and Remodelor Council of the Builders Association of Greater Boston for 2008. Mr. Hall is honored to serve for this his second term during his years as an active member of the organization.

Cornerstone received mention in a recent edition of Banker & Tradesman. The Real Estate, Banker and Commercial Weekly for Massachusetts contained an article entitled "Remodeling Industry Thrives As Owners Feather Their Nests". Featured in the article was a kitchen addition Cornerstone recently designed and added to a Westwood home.

In the article, Mr. Hall spoke of the continuing surge in home renovation: "In my experience, the remodeling industry has been pretty steady even with the dips in the economy", said Chuck Hall, chairman of the Builders Association of Greater Boston Remodelers Council.

Hall, who owns Cornerstone Building and Design in Framingham, said as home prices have continued to escalate in recent years homeowners have been willing to improve their properties, viewing the cost of such projects as a wise investment.

And Hall thinks that many Americans may still be experiencing the 'nesting' phenomenon that emerged in the months following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Reluctant to travel after the attacks and staying close to home instead of vacationing at faraway destinations, many homeowners' nesting instinct kicked in and they focused a considerable amount of time and resources improving their residences, some experts contend.

"People were spending a lot of their disposable income on their homes rather than vacationing," said Hall.

On October 16, 2003, Chuck Hall, President of Cornerstone Building and Design, Inc. in Framingham was named Remodeler of the Year by the Builders Association of Greater Boston. The awards dinner was held at the Dedham Hilton.

Cornerstone was established in 1985 and is today over a half million dollar full service design/build remodeling company serving mid to high end residential clients in Metrowest. Together with his staff and a dedicated team of subcontractors, the company sees projects through from design to completion. They are known for their design/build approach which allows homeowners to take advantage of "one stop shopping".

As a result of attending the Building and Materials Resource Center (BMRC) Open House, Cornerstone Building & Design, Inc. donated two truckloads of perfectly good, high-efficiency windows and doors from remodeling projects we had conducted.

Also, 15 members of the Remodelers Council held their February meeting at BMRC at my suggestion. An article I wrote on the meeting appeared in the Builders Association of Greater Boston Newsletter.
